A brand-new way to order together, that had to feel obvious

Group ordering the way Kitopi imagined it, letting a group order together from different devices, different payment methods and different restaurants inside one cloud-kitchen order, is a genuinely new pattern, and a strong differentiator in Dubai. But new patterns are easy to get wrong. People had to instantly understand how it worked and what to do, and it had to stay simple when plans changed: adding, editing or removing people at the last minute, when someone joins late, drops out, or cannot pay. If any of that felt confusing, the whole feature would fall flat.

We started with the flows. We mapped how a group order actually happens, then wireframed the journey before moving into high-fidelity concepts. Kitopi already had a robust design system, so we designed new, custom components specifically for group ordering, keeping everything consistent with the rest of the product while making a brand-new interaction feel familiar. Throughout, we focused on the moments that break group orders in real life, joining, editing, paying and dropping out, so the flow holds up when plans change.
